Account & troubleshooting
Do I need to create an account?
Yes. You need an account to message others and create or join events.
How do I delete my account?
You can delete your account in the app settings. Scroll to the bottom.
Do I need to use my real name?
No. You can choose any username you like.
Can I create more than one account?
Orbi is designed for one account per person. If you need help accessing your account, contact support.
What happens if I lose access to my account?
If you haven’t set up a backup PIN or no longer have access to your phone, you can reset your account by selecting “Skip” on the “Access your data” page during login. This will start a 6–8 hour waiting period. Once the wait is over, tap “Reset Account” to regain access. Please note that this will permanently remove access to all end-to-end encrypted chats.
What is the Backup PIN used for?
Your backup PIN is a security code used to access your account when logging in from a new device or after logging out. It also enables end-to-end encrypted chats to be securely available across all your devices.
What if I forgot my backup PIN?
If you forgot your backup PIN, you can reset it. Go to Settings page -> Backup & restore -> create new PIN.
Why is there a waiting period to reset my account?
The waiting period is a security measure that helps protect your account from unauthorized access by giving you time to review and deny any login attempts you didn’t initiate.
Can I change my username or photo later?
Yes. You can update your username and profile photo on your profile page. Click the edit button next to your profile picture.
Is my personal information visible to others?
Only your username and profile photo is visible to others.
Your birthday (date not year) is visible on the day, if you enable the feature.
Chat, Messaging & connections
How do I start a chat?
On the Chats page, click the create button in the top right corner. You need to have friends before you can start a chat.
How do I connect with someone on Orbi?
You connect with people by sending or accepting a friend request. Once you’re connected, you can message each other directly. Go to the profile page and click "Find Friends".
What happens when I receive a friend request?
You can choose to accept or ignore it. You’re always in control of who you connect with.
Will I receive spam or random messages?
Not likely. Since only accepted connections can message you directly, you won’t receive direct messages from strangers.
Can I block someone?
Yes. You can block users to prevent any further interaction. Go to Profile page -> "View Friends" and select "Remove & block user"
Can I remove someone later?
Yes. You can remove a connection at any time. If you choose to remove and block a user, they can no longer send a new friend request and message you directly.
Can people message me without my permission?
You decide who can reach you—only people you’ve connected with can message you directly. If a friend adds you to a group, people in that group can message you there.
Events
How do I create an event?
On the Events page, click the create button in the top right corner. You need to have friends before you can invite poeple to your event.
Can I update an event after creating it?
Yes. You can update event details at any time, and participants will see the changes.
How do I track who’s coming?
You can see responses directly in the event—no need to manage messages or separate lists.
Can I invite people who are not on Orbi yet?
Yes. You can invite people to events by SMS, even if they are not on Orbi yet. This makes it easier to plan with everyone, not only people already using the app.
Can i delete or cancel an event?
Yes. If you create or manage an event, you can cancel it or delete it from Orbi. When an event is cancelled, invited guests can see that the plan is no longer happening, so everyone stays updated.
How do i create an event group chat?
When you create or manage an event, open the Manage dropdown and select Create group chat to start a dedicated event chat with the event guests.
How do i remind guests to respond to event?
When you create or manage an event, open the Manage dropdown and select Remind guests to respond to send a reminder to invited guests who haven’t responded yet.
Privacy & data
Do you use my data for ads?
No. Orbi does not use your personal data for advertising or targeting, and we do not sell personal data or access to individual profiles. We may use privacy-protected aggregate statistics that do not identify individual users.
What data do you collect?
We collect the data needed to provide and secure the app, such as account details, content you choose to share, and limited technical and usage information. We may turn activity information into privacy-protected aggregate statistics, but customers do not receive user-level data through those statistics.
Does Orbi use end-to-end encryption?
Yes—messages on Orbi are secured with end-to-end encryption when this option is enabled during chat creation, meaning only participants in the conversation can read them.
Is my data secure?
Yes. We use encryption to protect your data both in transit and at rest, and we design Orbi with privacy in mind.
Support
Why is there a subscription?
Instead of ads and advertising tracking, Orbi is supported by its
users.
A small subscription helps keep the app simple, private, and
focused.
Do I get extra features with a subscription?
No. The subscription is optional and supports the app—it does not unlock additional features.
How do I cancel my subscription?
You can cancel anytime through your device’s subscription settings.
Will I lose access if I don’t subscribe?
No. Orbi remains fully usable without a subscription.
Something isn’t working—what should I do?
Try restarting the app or checking your internet
connection.
